Barry Rubin

Barry Rubin brings two decades of high-level experience across business, government, and politics to the Nebraska Pipeline Safety Association. He has a rich background managing political campaigns, serving as a state party executive director, and consulting for Fortune 500 companies. In 2008, he founded Red State Strategies, LLC, a full-service issue management agency based in Omaha, specializing in public affairs and issue campaign management. Rubin’s expertise extends to public opinion and market research, where he excels in generating active support, creating market opportunities, and enhancing client reputations. His strategic insights and commitment to building strong relationships with key stakeholders are vital assets in advancing the goals of the Nebraska Pipeline Safety Association.

Darren Garrean

Darren brings three decades of hands-on experience as a firefighter, EMT, and paramedic, serving both in volunteer roles and on the front lines as a professional. With his Hazardous Materials Technician Level certification, Darren plays a critical role on Nebraska’s Hazardous Material Response Team, where he’s always ready to step up in challenging situations. His expertise extends to urban search and rescue, where he serves as a Rescue Specialist for Nebraska Task Force One and is part of FEMA’s Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) task force, tackling some of the toughest emergencies. Darren’s leadership is well-recognized; he’s the immediate past president of the Nebraska Professional Fire Fighters Association, where he worked tirelessly to support his fellow firefighters. With a deep commitment to safety, Darren is a trusted figure in the community, known for his dedication to protecting both people and property across Nebraska.

Brigham McCown

Brigham is a seasoned leader with a deep understanding of the challenges faced by those working on the ground to keep pipelines safe and operational. With extensive experience, including his role as the head of the Trans-Alaska Pipeline System, he’s led efforts to improve safety, efficiency, and environmental stewardship in some of the toughest conditions. Brigham’s career began in the Navy, and he later took on key roles in national pipeline safety, always with a focus on protecting both workers and communities. Now, he’s bringing that commitment to Nebraska, applying his practical, hands-on approach to help ensure the safety and reliability of the region’s pipeline infrastructure. Brigham’s work is driven by a deep respect for the people who keep the industry moving forward, and his leadership is grounded in real-world experience and a dedication to getting the job done right.
